I Don't Have a Money Problem! (Part 1)
Poverty is not God’s will for any child of His and that includes you. Financial prosperity is God’s will for you because you need money to function in this earth realm.
God doesn’t money to function in this earth but you need money to function here on earth! The extent to which He functions here on earth is limited to how much you can function and He doesn’t want anything to limit you in functioning in your full capacity! This is why in the sacrifice of Jesus; He took care of your entire money problems!
During ‘The Gathering’ - our Ministry convention, the Lord gave us a prophetic word:
“Money will no longer stop you from doing what you want to do, going where you want to go or having what you want to have. There is an anointing upon you to prosper because blood has been shed and it is speaking on your behalf.”
God in no way intended for you to be limited by money and one of the privileges a believer has as an inheritance in Christ Jesus is that money should not be a problem to him.
Some years ago the Lord spoke to my heart and said, “Arome you do not have a money problem!” That shook me at first because it looked like the only problem I had was money! I felt money was the reason I couldn’t do certain things until the Holy Ghost spoke that rhema word to me!
I knew exactly what the Spirit of God was saying to me! The Holy Spirit was reminding me that the sacrifice of Jesus took care of any money problem I would ever have in my life!
Money in the Redemption
Isaiah 53:5 (AMP) (5) But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; THE CHASTISEMENT [NEEDFUL TO OBTAIN] PEACE AND WELL-BEING FOR US WAS UPON HIM, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
In Jesus’ substitutionary work on the cross, He paid the price for me to prosper! The bible says the chastisement i.e. the discipline, instruction and punishment required for my peace was upon Jesus! The word ‘peace’ also means prosperity which includes financial prosperity and wellbeing! This means that all the sufferings necessary for me to prosper was upon Jesus.
I can read Isaiah 53:5 like this: “… the discipline, instruction, hustle and punishment required to prosper and do well was upon Jesus…!” and I won’t be misinterpreting that scripture!!!
There is money in the redemption. The bible says, “The chastisement needful to obtain peace and wellbeing was upon Him...” If it was upon Him then it cannot be upon me and it is not on you either. It cannot be upon Him and upon me at the same time because He took it.
Think about this for a moment…
Jesus took care of the sins of humanity when He went on that cross and paid the price for our sin. Today because of this sacrifice there is no sin problem only a sinner problem. The sacrifice of Jesus once and for all handled the sin problem and all that is left for sinners is to receive the remission of sins paid for in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
It is the same thing with our finances because the same sacrifice that handled sin is the same sacrifice that handled poverty as such there is no money or poverty problem only a poor man problem. The way to handle the ‘poor man’ problem is by MAKING him rich.
Jesus said, “MAKE A TREE GOOD and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.” (Matthew 12:33). The way to bring good fruit from a tree is by ‘making’ the tree good so the way to change a person’s financial situation is not by giving him/her money, it is by making the poor man a rich man and that is what Jesus did on the cross.
2 Corinthians 8:9 AMP (9) For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though HE WAS [SO VERY] RICH, yet for YOUR (put your name here) sakes HE BECAME [SO VERY] POOR, in order that by His poverty YOU (put your name here) might become enriched (abundantly supplied). [Emphasis mine]
I believe this scripture is very clear! He became poor on the cross so that you can be rich in this life! When you recognize this and believe it, you become the rich. Concerning what Jesus has done, every believer has to, “…become progressively acquainted with and recognize more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
You ought to know that money isn’t what has made you rich! It is God who has made you rich in Christ Jesus. You are not the rich because of some money you have stacked up in your account! No! It is because you are rich that you have the money!
Revelations 2:9 “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (BUT YOU ARE RICH); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
God is not ignorant of the present economic situations and difficulties. He is not ignorant of all the financial situations facing many Christians but He is also not ignorant of who they are. He knows your works, level of education, tribulations but YOU ARE RICH. Your situation doesn’t define you, you define the situation.
You have to first of all believe this truth! Because you are rich, all the money that you will ever need will definitely manifest in your hands!
It Is an Evil
Ecclesiastes 10:5-7 (5) There is AN EVIL I have seen under the sun, the sort of error that arises FROM A RULER: (6) Fools are put in many high positions, while THE RICH OCCUPY THE LOW ONES. (7) I have seen slaves on horseback, while PRINCES GO ON FOOT LIKE SLAVES.
As I look through life, I see poor men with money and rich men who don’t have any money! The Philosopher in the bible calls this an evil. Some believers have come to accept this as normal but it is an evil - it is not supposed to be so.
You may be asking, “Why is it like that?”
The answer is in vs. 5; “… the sort of error that arises from a ruler.” A lot of believers haven’t realized that God has designed for us to be rulers of this earth! We are the one that are supposed to give effective leadership to how things should happen in this world. Psalm 110:2 says, “… RULE in the midst of your enemies!” The error first of all is in the way we think!
I want you to boldly declare, “I DON’T HAVE A MONEY PROBLEM!”
When God dropped that rhema word in my heart, I stepped into my financial rest! It is this rest that has freed me from the anxiety of financial burdens. Take it in your heart that you are blessed and rich and then it will begin to manifest on the outside.
A Good Fortune
3John 1:2 MSG (2) We’re the best of friends, and I pray for GOOD FORTUNE IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, and for your good health--that YOUR EVERYDAY AFFAIRS PROSPER, as well as your soul!
John the beloved walked with Jesus in the flesh. He wrote this epistle as an old man in his prime. These were like his memoirs and in it he says his greatest desire is for believers to live in good health and have a good fortune in everything that they did. To have a good fortune also means to have a lot of money! God desires for you to enjoy a good fortune in everything you do.
It doesn’t matter your career, God wants you to have a good fortune!
Psalms 1:1-3 (1) BLESSED IS THE ONE who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, (2) But whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. (3) That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – WHATEVER THEY DO PROSPERS.
This is what I call ‘The life of a blessed man!’ Whatever a blessed man does prospers. You are this blessed man because in Christ Jesus you have been blessed with all spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).
Why God Prospers You!
God WANTS us prosperous because He LOVES us and that is plain simple.
Psalm 35:27 (AMP) (27) Let those who favor my righteous cause and have pleasure in my uprightness shout for joy and be glad and say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, Who TAKES PLEASURE IN THE PROSPERITY of His servant.
When we prosper, it brings God pleasure! God prospers us just because He loves us!
God has made us rich and has given us money because we are sons and daughters that He loves.
It is because of His love that He paid the price in the sacrifice of His Son - Jesus. Because of the sacrifice, wealth and riches have become our heritage. It is our blood bought inheritance.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
We have redemption from poverty because of His blood and as joint heirs we have everything that He has (Romans 8:17)
All that is bequeathed the believer as inheritance in the finished work of Jesus can only be explained through God’s love and nothing that we have done! The reason He has blessed us, given us authority in this life and favoured above all others is because of His love.
Ephesians 2:4 AMP (4) But God--so rich is He in His mercy! BECAUSE OF AND IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE GREAT AND WONDERFUL AND INTENSE LOVE WITH WHICH HE LOVED US,
The reason God has brought you into great wealth through the sacrifice of His Son is simply to satisfy the great, wonderful and intense love that He has for you. You can boldly declare: “I have money, I’m rich, I’m prosperous because the Father loves me!”
In 2 Samuel 9 we are given a picture of how much God’s love can lift us up in spite of our short comings as demonstrated in the story of David and Mephibosheth.
David’s heart yearned to be a blessing to someone in Saul’s house because of the covenant he had with Jonathan (Saul’s son) despite the fact that the house of Saul had pronounced themselves enemies of David! The bible says, “And David said, Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul to whom I may SHOW KINDNESS FOR JONATHAN’S SAKE?” (2 Samuel 9:1) What a yearning!!!
David’s heart was burning and yearning for an object to pour his kindness upon and it found Mephibosheth – the crippled son of Jonathan. Despite the fact that he was a cripple and was of no use to the king, David’s love lifted him from poverty into great wealth; from ‘not enough’ to ‘more than enough;’ from penury to prosperity, from rags to riches! Hallelujah!
I can boldly say that God’s intense desire to prosper has found me and lifted me up!
David told Mephibosheth, “... FEAR NOT, for I will surely SHOW YOU KINDNESS FOR JONATHAN YOUR FATHER'S SAKE, and will RESTORE to you all the land of Saul your father [grandfather], and you shall eat at my table always.”
Love lifted Mephibosheth out of his low estate into luxury because of a covenant that David had with Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-4). In the same way, God’s love for me has lifted me from poverty into great abundance because of the covenant that He has with Jesus my Saviour on the cross of Calvary!
Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who GIVES YOU POWER TO GET WEALTH, that He may ESTABLISH HIS COVENANT which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
God gave the Israelites the power to prosper because of the covenant that He made with their fathers; today He gives us power to prosper because of the covenant that He made with Jesus on the cross.
Money Is Your Inheritance
Money is your inheritance not a reward! God doesn’t reward you with money because you serve Him. You can serve God and be poor if you don’t know that money is your inheritance. I have seen well meaning, committed, faithful and long serving Christians who are poor! They can’t pay their bills; they are always behind on their rent and cannot afford to give their children a good education. They are waiting for a reward instead of taking their inheritance.
In Luke 15, Jesus told a parable of a certain Father who had 2 sons. The older son served the Father diligently but didn’t enjoy the Father’s wealth because he was thinking ‘reward’ instead of inheritance.
Luke 15:29-31 MSG (29) The son said, ‘Look how many years I’ve stayed here serving you, never giving you one moment of grief, but have you ever thrown a party for me and my friends? (30) Then this son of yours who has thrown away your money on whores shows up and you go all out with a feast!’ (31) “His father said, ‘Son, you don’t UNDERSTAND. You’re with me all the time, and everything that is mine is yours--
The older son lacked understanding! This was the problem. He was working for what is already his. You don’t work for what is yours, you TAKE what is yours. The younger son knew the money was his inheritance so he went ahead and took it!
He knew the inheritance was his so he could ask and He could gather (Luke 15:12)! He wasn’t waiting to work for it, he simply took it! It is time to take your money!!!
The world system operates on a “work-reward” system but it is not the same with God! Money is your inheritance, not your reward! We serve God WITH our money; we don’t serve Him FOR money! The Father’s answer says it all: “YOU’RE WITH ME ALL THE TIME, AND EVERYTHING THAT IS MINE IS YOURS.” (Vs. 31) All that is the Father’s is yours!
The younger son who didn’t serve like the older son knew that the Father’s money was his and because of this he could tell the Father: "... Father, I want right now what’s coming to me.’ “So the father divided the property between them.” You must have the right understanding to make such a bold audacious demand!
Just think about this: The father divided to ‘them’ i.e. the older and younger sons but only the younger one took what was his because of the right mindset that he had. Many believers have been robbed of their money because they are trying to serve for it instead of serving with it.
For a child of God, money is not a reward, it is an inheritance!
